Hi all.. fourth seascape here. I was thinking to myself last night, I've done a dark sunset, a stormy sea picture, and a bright, tropical seascape.. what about a sort of surreal red-orange light-colored sunset? This was a few minutes before I wanted to run off to bed, mind you.. quickly dragged out a dreamscape Sea and set up some lighting, hacked at the materials and sky coloring/clouds for another few minutes... and voila.
Only spent about 25 minutes in total on this before rendering out and running off to bed, but I'm liking the way it came out, so I'll post it, time for something new anyways Set to really high render settings, came back the next day to find a 15 minute rendering time.. what a waste of a night!
3ds max 7, Dreamscape 2.5, half hour to create, 15 minutes to render @ 2048x1536, some photoshop postwork.
Nice work! I love the film grain. I also like how you made the lens flare subtle, because everyone uses the 105mm prime filter in photoshop but this looks less filtery and more integrated with the scene.
Thanks, yeah, I added some subtle grain, looked nice And lensflares, yeah, I hate when people take images into photoshop and use default lens flare settings and just make them really bright and prominent and plastic and fake.. so I used a few different layered ones with different opacity settings to get the effect I wanted, a bright sun but only a subtle flare.. well there I go, on and on... Anyways, thanks

As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same.
